One of the reasons you should always play poker for fun at first when you are learning is because you will need to know roughly what to expect when you meet other poker players with playing personalities that you would not otherwise be used to.
Players need to be able to walk before they can run and therefore you need a lot of practice before you know what you need to do in every situation you find yourself in when playing any poker game. Now admittedly there will not be as many good players that play for free, but you will start to get the feeling for right time to raise or call or fold. It is all a matter of practice.
Well this is true for any game, which is exactly the reason why I like Bovada. Not only can you play for free at the Play Money poker tables, but they also have a casino that can be downloaded here. This will allow you to play any of Bovada’s casino games for fun as well.
Bovada is a poker site first and foremost and they do have their own poker software. The only reason that I rated this a little lower than PokerStars is because there aren’t as many players at Bovada in comparison. Not by a whole lot mind you, but the tables can be a little bit slower to fill up on non-peak playing hours.
Other than that, I don’t really get into details about the looks because they are only aesthetics and are a matter of taste. As long as the software is stable, which Bovada is, there isn’t much more to describe about the sites.
Every poker site has pretty much the same things: They offer large tournaments to their players, offer seats for prestigious poker tournaments such as the WSOP which coming up soon (that’s why the queen is winking in the sidebar).
Poker sites also offer several different ways to play, not just different poker games. My personal favorite is the $20/2 or $10/1 Sit N Go tournaments. These tournaments remind me the most of playing a garage tournament.
Everyone throws an equal amount of money in and gets the same amount of chips. Only the top 3 places are winners (or 4 to 6 if you are playing in a multi-table game).
Bovada Poker Bonus
Bovada Poker does not offer any kind of rakeback. Their poker bonuses are all that they offer, but I definitely like Bovada’s poker bonus the best. Bovada’s welcome bonus is a 100% bonus that is worth up to $1,000. This means that you would have to deposit $1000 to be eligible for that much.
In order to earn this bonus, you must play as much poker as humanly possible within 60 days!
I’m kind of kidding, but you do have to play a lot of poker because you do only have 60 days to climb their levels and receive you bonus. Here is how it works:
Every 10 poker points that you have earned is equal to $1. This is very similar to the other poker sites. The part that differs is that you can earn a total of 6 bonuses during that 60 days.
The first bonus is issued at 100 poker points ($10 bonus); the next is issued at 500 pp ($40 bonus); then 1,500 pp ($100 bonus); then 3,000 pp ($150 bonus); then 6,000 pp ($300 bonus) and finally at 10,000 poker points, you will earn a $400 bonus.
You can earn poker points by playing in tournaments (3 points for every $1 entry fee), by playing in ring games (where you get percentages of a point for every raked hand), and by just playing. The last one is that part that I love best. For every hour that you play online in hands, you will receive 1 point.
This is my kind of bonus because I usually play in tournaments and not ring games. I can play a usual 1 table sit n go tournament in a little less then an hour, that is if I don’t get knocked out early. Most of the other poker sites don’t seem to favor playing on tournaments as much.
